Lorna O'Donnell

After graduating from Queens University Belfast in 2001 with a joint degree in Palaeoecology and Archaeology Lorna worked as a site assistant on Bronze Age and historic excavations at Swords and Murphystown, Co. Dublin. She joined Margaret Gowen & Co. Ltd as a wood and charcoal specialist in 2002.

Lorna has worked on wood and charcoal remains from most time periods in Ireland, from Mesolithic fish traps from Spencer Dock, Co. Dublin to Post Medieval wood remains from Smithfield, Co. Dublin. She co-edited the volume The Bronze Age Landscapes of the Gas Pipeline to the West: An integrated archaeological and environmental assessment with Dr. Eoin Grogan, which was brought to publication in 2007. She started her P.h.D in University College Dublin in 2006 entitled ‘People and woodlands: an investigation into wood and charcoal remains as indicators of cultural selection and local environment in Bronze Age Ireland’.
