Kirsti Hanninen

PortraitKirsti Hänninen graduated in 1990 at the University of Leiden with a Master of Science in prehistory.

Her current field of work and research interest is archaeobotany and palaeoecology. She is specialized in seed and fruit, wood and charcoal analysis.

Kirsti is particularly interested in aspects such as subsistence economy, wood use and wood technology. In 1993 she participated in dendrochronological workshop organized by Prof. dr. F.H. Schweingruber in the Swiss Alps.

She participated in various archaeological expeditions in the Netherlands, Germany, Finland and St. Eustatius. Between 1992 and 1994 she was working on various archaeobotanical projects for the State Service for Archaeological Investigations in the Netherlands in Amersfoort (ROB – Rijksdienst voor het Oudheidkundig Bodemonderzoek).

Since 1994 she is a partner in BIAX Consult.
