Ellen O’Carroll

Ellen graduated from UCD in 1991 with a degree in Archaeology and History. She followed this with an M.A. in UCC in Methods and Practices in Archaeological Research and Theory. She completed her second year thesis on the analysis of two wooden Assemblages from Corlea bog, Co. Longford and King John’s Castle, Co. Limerick. Ellen returned to UCD in 2004 to complete a diploma in EIA management.

 As well as being a licensed site director and experienced in EIA, Ellen  has worked for over fourteen years as an archaeological wood and charcoal specialist and has completed wood analysis reports from various excavations and road schemes throughout Ireland. Recent publications include those with the IAWU and on the Archaeology of Lemanaghan, Co. Offaly. She is currently engaged as environmental editor for the N6 publications and is completing charcoal and wood reports for upcoming NRA publications for the N9/N10 and the M3. Ellen currently works as a freelance consultant.
