Caroline Vermeeren
Caroline Vermeeren graduated in 1978 at the University of Leiden with a Master in Science in biology with the specialization in archaeobotany and palynology.
Her current work and research interest is archaeobotany, palynology and palaeoecology. Caroline is specialized in macro- and microfossil and wood and charcoal analysis.
Her special interest is the technology of wood use in Europe and northeast Africa. She participated in archaeological expedition to the site of Berenike in Egypt.
Between 1986 and 1989 she was teaching Biology in school. Since 1990 she is lecturing Archaeobotany (mainly wood research) at the University of Leiden and Amsterdam. Between 1987 and 1993 she was working on free lance-bases as archaeobotanist and wood specialist for the University of Leiden, Amsterdam and Groningen, several City Services and the State Service for Archaeological Investigations in the Netherlands (ROB).
She participated in wood and dendrochronological workshops lectured by Damian Goodburn in England, Prof. dr. F.H. Schweingruber in Zwitserland and Dr. E. Jansma in the Netherlands.
She was a Committee member of the International Association of Environmental Archaeology (1995-1998) and the Dutch Enterprises in Archaeology (1997-2000) and a part-time member of the KNA committee (1999-2000).
Since 1994 she is a partner in BIAX Consult.
