Philip Buckland

Philip Buckland is a geographer, palaeoecologist, programmer and database designer working at the Environmental Archaeology Lab in Umeå, Sweden.

His main interests are in fossil insects from Holocene and archaeological deposits along with the development of database orientated tools for the analysis and visualisation of Quaternary Science data. He is the co-author, along with Paul Buckland (Sheffield), of the Bugs Coleopteran Ecology Package (BugsCEP), a database linked, publicly available, software system for the analysis of fossil and modern insect assemblages.

Currently, he is running the Strategic Environmental Archaeology Database (SEAD) project from Umeå, and hopefully helping towards the construction of the Grand Unifying Database of Everything.
