2009

Funding through the INSTAR programme 2009 was delayed until the 20th of May. Prior to this alternate funding had been sought through European ESF and COST funding, both of which were ultimately unsuccessful. The contacts established during the first phase of the WODAN project were maintained through the use of a social networking site and e-mail updates as to the progress of the INSTAR funding.

Jubilation, and panic due to the compressed time frame, greeted the news of the successful INSTAR application (grant no. 16705) and two workshops, scheduled for the 6th of October and 17th of November, were quickly arranged. Phase 2 posters were produced for display at numerous conferences throughout the year.

Due to time constraints Susan Lyons stepped down as research assistant and was replaced by Amy Bunce. On the IT side John I. White joined the team as web designer.

By the time of the international workshop on the 6th of October a functioning version of the database was able to be demonstrated and trialed. Feedback from this workshop led to a series of changes and improvements that are still being implemented. It is anticipated that the database will be live by January and that during the first few weeks of use any remaining bugs and glitches, brought to attention by the real world use of the database, will be smoothed out.

On the 17th of November a workshop focused towards the intended users of the database will be held, this workshop will form part of the IWAA meeting.
